ABOUT US

Poseidon Bars is a Bournemouth based business which was set up by 2 friends with a passion for building and designing unusual projects.

Like most great ideas it all started over a dog walk and a coffee while talking about our latest project.  We had just finished 2 bespoke converted shipping containers for a client which were going to be on Bournemouth Beach for the summer season, one as a commercial bar and one as a commercial kitchen.

We had both really enjoyed the project and saw that there was potential in the industry for a new way of providing pop up spaces.  Shipping containers were perfect as they are strong, durable, weather resistant and can be converted into pretty much anything you could think of.

So with that in mind Poseidon Bars was born, we set out with a firm plan, to build the highest spec shipping container bar possible, something that would give our customers everything they could possibly need all in one unit to operate a commercial bar.

Our business was formed from a friendship and this is still at the heart of it today, we feel strongly that our customers come first and they are part of our Poseidon family.

I’m originally from Bournemouth and am married with 3 children. After leaving school I started my journey as an apprentice carpenter working for a shop fitting company. I travelled all over Europe working and gaining valuable experience along the way. I have worked on projects for large International companies such as Starbucks, Costa, P&O, O2 Arena and Lancaster Hotel, each with their own unique challenges.

I found that working on unusual bespoke projects in the shop fitting industry that take you away from the everyday side of the construction sparked the creative streak in me and I applied them to my own business.

It’s not all work, work, work though. Away from work I love spending time with my family, taking my crazy British Bulldog ‘Harley’ for a walk and when I get the chance paddle boarding and relaxing on the river.

I’m originally from Birmingham and moved to the seaside town of Bournemouth with my wife in 1981 and have 3 children. I stated my career as an apprentice brick layer and as time has gone on I have built a successful construction business developing properties and building new build houses among other projects.

In my spare time I love taking my dog ‘Tilley’ for a walk and spending time with my family, I have a passion for vintage motorbikes and try and get out for a cruise on a country lane when I can.
